Busy Day

I missed posting yesterday because I was so “under the gun” to get some code finished up -among other scheduled tasks. I ended up finishing 28 tasks yesterday. That’s amazing to me even, now that I stop and think about it. haha.

Fortunately, though, I did manage to finish up this cool tabbed table thingy to more eloquently display various niches of websites selling ad space in my online advertising marketplace. So… YAY! :)

I’ve been staying up until 6am every morning for the past week, so I am happy to say that I’ve gotten caught up on development. Now, I hope to get my company off the ground and get back on my feet. The problem? I have no money left over to promote my new service. *sigh* …ah well.

I had done quite a bit of consulting work last year and had enough money between that and some savings to finish up my project of launching my advertising marketplaces. So, I would have been in a nice spot by now. However, the wreck (i.e. my neck injury) really set me back in time and ended up costing me a LOT more than I projected. So, now I’m so broke that I cannot pay the bills -medical or otherwise. Argh.

Oh yeah, and I made a great deal last year to stay in a HUGE house (we called it the mini-mansion), and I split it with my best friend, Joanna, and another good friend of mine. Unfortunately, Joanna had to move out after a few months and then my other buddy ran into some financial woes. So, my awesome negotiating that afforded me a huge place to work out of for only $800/month ended up biting me in the butt and sticking me with a $2,300/month payment. OUCH! It wasn’t really fair for me to have to pay all of that myself, but as someone I once knew always said, “It is what it is.”

Anyway, I did get to watch the movie, Hurricane, with my girlfriend last night. I really like that movie because I can relate to the main character. I know there are two-sides to every story, but I experienced a lot of what that movie was about. I don’t know if he was innocent or guilty, but I do know what some crooked cops are capable of getting away with in this world. Note at the end of the movie that they never did punish the crooked cops. I guess the government leaves it up to us to do that. It’s kind of like how in the jail I was kept in, they would tell us things like “don’t fight or you’ll go to the hole!” But, when we would report people trying to start fights, they would tell us to handle it ourselves and then laugh. Yeah. Real nice.

I won’t digress for too much longer, but there is a rebuttal out there on the web that sounds convincing at first that Rubin Carter might have been guilty. But then again, the author is very naive or ignorant on some points. I’m not being mean. It’s just the truth. I’ve been through what Rubin Carter went through in some regards -not to the same extent, though. I know exactly WHY he would refuse a lie detector test. I know exactly how it feels to tell the truth and be told that you are lying beyond any doubt. Yeah, I’ve been there. A bad cop will go to any lengths. Period.
