Gotta Love Hate Mail from Competitors

I almost forgot… quick post before I get some shut eye…

Unfortunately, doing business on the web for any length of time will eventually bring you into contact with some real low-life people. It’s just a part of the Internet biz -same as in offline biz, I suppose…

Sometimes I really consider meeting these idiots in person. Maybe a few kung-fu lessons or boxing lessons would straighten them out and get them back on the right path. lol.

Anyway, the real point of this post is that I received a hate mail from a competitor to one of my companies, LinkSmile.com. I think it’s funny that those jerks at my competitor have time to sit around start flame wars. They must not have any sales to have so little to do. Anyway, it’s sad that I invested more than $130,000 into this venture only to have to let it go due to the police corruption and then not having enough money to get back on my feet in time. Ah well, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

Fortunately for Ron Wicker of LinkWorth, I had all of these personal issues to keep me down. Otherwise, LinkSmile would have definitely crushed the “Text Link” market. However, I wouldn’t say it was a total loss because we do still generate quite a bit of direct referral business –it’s just that I’m not really that involved anymore.

Anyway, I digressed a bit. I thought I’d share their email -just for grins- and then share my reply to them as well. Enjoy! lol

Left QuoteI just wanted to send a fun HA HA HA to whoever reads this. I just read this over at V7N:

http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/15196-linkworth-com-2.html#post177166

Reading through, you guys seemed pretty sure of yourselves and that you were going to pretty much own the text linking market. I’d say you got served yo!

Here we are 3 years later and I had never heard of “linksmile” before. Our company buys links at the big boy sites like TLA and LinkWorth, but we also buy some at the smaller sites like TLB and LinkExperts, along with a few other sites. I’ve NEVER known of your site until reading this post.

Guess you should have made friends with linkworth instead of being a tool about linksmile. Maybe you could have turned this site into something. TLA and LW are the biggest and best.

You should strive to be like them.Right Quote

…and here’s my reply:

Left QuoteAre you really so simple-minded?

I’m sure you are friends with Ron, so don’t play that “lottie-dah, I just happened to stumble onto this post” blah blah. You are both so naive. Wesley told me about you. I was not impressed by Ron’s childishness. This email just proves Wesley’s point about Ron AND his friends like you. It’s so obvious.

A site doesn’t have to be famous to make millions. If you had ever been successful -like we have- then you’d know that already. Too bad for you. Besides, we do not compete with TLA or LW. They are both low-quality, pagerank peddlers. We don’t bother with pagerank… we focus on sales and our customers wouldn’t touch LW’s sites. Very few of LW’s sites would make it into LinkSmile’s inventory. Enough said about that.

And who would want to be friends with a jerk like Ron? I read the posts… how childish… arguing without justification. Pathetic. How about calling sometime instead of being a coward and playing email games. Now that we have our offices in the U.S. once again, I can be reached at 888-763-6797.

Cheers,

It’s fairly obvious that this email was sent by Ron or one of his buddies –as they all share the exact same style of writing and low-level of intelligence versus netiquette. The attitude is even seen in the post that is mentioned in the email when Ron was arguing (pointlessly) with Wesley back in the day. It’s an amusing read, I must say.

Most people probably would not even acknowledge such a crass, sorry excuse for an insult but I could not help myself. They are just too easy as targets. They do it to themselves. Unfortunately, as I suspected, the sender used a made up email address. So, I suppose he won’t be able to start a flame war with me (not that I would bother) –awww, too bad. heh

Ciao,

Brandon

Brandon, I have no idea who did it. Was not me and did not put anyone up to it.

The last Wes and I spoke, we had become cordial with each other. But I’m not sure how you tie into that, or who you even are.

As far as competition, you have never been competition to us so I don’t see the tie in that would make us feel threatened enough to send that message to you.

Wes and I did have quite a few exchanges years ago, but we grew past that and it was over. So I hate to burst your bubble, but I had nothing to do with it.

I have to admit though, I did get a chuckle out of it. For future reference, if you ever have an issue with me or our company, you know our website and feel free to call me directly. We even have a toll free number that might help your situation. ;-)
